Workplace problems and/or issues are addressed in accordance with the Company policies and work practices to ensure EEO principles are adhered to and all staff are treated with fairness and respect.
Definitions
Discrimination occurs when an individual or group are treated less favourably because of a particular personal characteristic or attribute, for example, gender, race, pregnancy, disability. Discrimination can also occur when policies and practices are applied to all groups alike with the assumption that all groups are the same. People and groups are not all the same. What often happens is that significantly more of one group can comply with a particular policy or practice than another.
Unacceptable personal behaviour can range from inappropriate verbal behaviour or unwanted physical contact, to an offensive physical environment that contains material such as unacceptable posters and cartoons. It can be intentional or unintentional. What is acceptable to one person may not be to another.
Harassment is any form of behaviour that is not wanted and not asked for and that humiliates someone, offends him or intimidates him.
